Union Minister launches E-Chhawani portal
- Raksha Mantri launches E-Chhawani portal & mobile app that provides online civic services to residents of 62 Cantonment Boards
- The portal was jointly developed by eGov Foundation, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Directorate General Defence Estates (DGDE) and National Informatics Centre (NIC).
- Through this portal, residents of cantonment areas will be able to get basic services - lease renewal, birth and death certificates, taxes and fees, water and sewage connections.
- This portal will benefit over 20 lakh residents in the Cantonment Boards.

Tata Group to acquire majority stake in BigBasket
- Tata Group is buying a 68% stake worth ₹95 billion ($1.31 bn) in grocery e-commerce company BigBasket.
- BigBasket is an Indian online grocery delivery service. The company primarily delivers grocery goods found in convenience stores, home essentials and food supplies to its customers.
- The company was founded in 2011 with headquarters at Bengaluru.
Bitcoin touches the $50k mark
- Bitcoin gained above $50,000 mark on 16th February, 2021, for the first time.
- Bitcoin, the world’s biggest cryptocurrency hit a new high at $50,602.
- Previously it’s high was $49,537 which is 3.3% higher than the new high.

- ‘Prani Mitra’ is the country’s highest award for animal welfare.
- The award is given by the Animal Welfare Board of India.
- The Prani Mitra Award 2021 was given to S. Chinny Krishna, the co-founder of Blue Cross of India, for his lifetime service to animals.
