Indian Railways Introduces Drone Based Surveillance System for Security purposes

  • Indian railways has introduced Drone based Surveillance system for security purposes in railways which is cost effective and will be handles with limited manpower.
  • Central Railway’s Mumbai Division of the Indian Railways procured 2 Ninja Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) to increase the security and surveillance at the station, tracks, yards and workshops.
  • Ninja Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) is capable of automatically providing real time tracking info and video streaming.
  • The Railway Protection Force (RPF) procured 9 drones at a cost of Rs.31.87 lakhs at the South Eastern Railways, Central Railway, Modern Coaching Factory, Rae Bareli and South Western Railway.

  • Union Minister for Health Dr Harsh Vardhan presided over an online orientation workshop organised by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) as part of its Eat Right Challenge.
  • FSSAI has launched a campaign - ‘Eat Right India’ to create awareness among the people about safe, healthy and sustainable dietary habits.
  • Focusing on its objective, FSSAI has now launched the Eat Right Movement to make the programme a people’s campaign.
  • During the workshop, the Minister also launched a Handbook on ‘Eat Right India’ and the website to help various stakeholders scale up ‘Eat Right India’ initiatives across the country.

JCI & NSC inks MoU to provide certified good quality seeds to jute farmers

  • Jute Corporation of India and National Seeds Corporation has signed a MoU to provide certified good quality seeds to Jute farmers in the year 2021-2022.
  • National Seeds Corporation is working in providing good quality seeds at low cost for jute farmers and on the importance of improving the production and quality of raw jute in the country.
  • In accordance with the MoU signed, Jute Corporation of India will distribute 10 thousand Quintals of certified jute seeds of JRO-204 variety in the 2021-22 crop year.
  • Minister of Textiles Smriti Irani and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar witnessed the MoU signing ceremony.

 

AIIA and Delhi Police signs MoU on extended use of Ayurvedic mode of health services to their residents

  • All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) and Delhi Police has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the extended application of Ayurvedic mode of health services at their doorsteps.
  • This is achieved through mobile Unit called ‘Dhanwantari Rath’.
  • Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Gujarat, first implemented the idea of ‘Dhanwantari Rath’.
  • The mobile units will consist of Ayush Doctor, paramedic and nursing staff along with local Medical Officers from Urban Health Centre.
  • This idea is a part of AYURAKSHA is a joint venture of AIIA & Delhi Police for maintaining the health of Delhi Police personnel.
  • The scheme was launched on April 30, 2020 for the Delhi Police Personnel only, now it will be extended to the families of the Delhi Police.

41 Lakh Youths Lost Their Jobs in India Due to COVID-19 - ILO-ADB Report

  • The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) had jointly released a report titled “Tackling the Covid-19 youth employment crisis in Asia and the Pacific”, which stated that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, around 41 lakh youths have lost their jobs in India.
  • The report is based on the regional assessment of the “Global Survey on Youth and COVID-19”.
  • The report assesses the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the youth employment in Asia and Pacific regions and recommends critical policy responses.
  • The report states that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the youths more than the adults (25 years and above) in the immediate crisis.

ADB Approved USD 1 billion loan for Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System

  • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved USD 1 billion loan to construct the modern, high-speed 82-kilometer Delhi – Meerut, Uttar Pradesh Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in India.
  • The finance of the Delhi- Meerut RRTS project will be given in 4 tranches between August 2020 and May 2025.
  • The project will be executed by NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
  • The project will be implemented in phases between the cities and is expected to be open by March 2025.
  • The Delhi-Meerut RRTS network is the 1st of three priority rail corridors in the country’s integrated transport network.

Kishor Rungta assumed charge as Chairman of FAI Southern Region

  • C&MD of the Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT), Kishor Rungta has assumed charge as the Chairman of Fertilisers Association of India (FAI), Southern Region.
  • The Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) is the heading body that represents the fertiliser manufacturers, distributors, importers, equipment manufacturers, research institutes and suppliers of inputs.
  • The FAI’s southern region covers stakeholders from the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.
