Punjab becomes the 13th State to complete One Nation One Ration Card system reform

  • Punjab has become the 13th State in the country to successfully undertake “One Nation One Ration Card system” reform stipulated by the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.
  • The State has become eligible to mobilise additional financial resources of Rs.1516 crore through Open Market Borrowings. Permission for the same issued by the Department of Expenditure.
  • The other 12 states namely Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh, who have completed this reform.
  • One Nation One Ration Card System is an important citizen centric reform, which ensures availability of ration to beneficiaries under National Food Security Act (NFSA) and other welfare schemes.

High Level Committee approves Rs 3,113.05 crore of additional Central Assistance to five States/Union Territories

  • The High Level Committee (HLC) under the Chairmanship of the Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, has approved additional Central Assistance under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to five states.
  • The funds approved for the states affected by floods cyclones (Nivar and Burevi) Pest attack during 2020.
  • A total of Rs. 3113.05 Crore approved from the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF).
  • In addition during the financial year 2020-21, till date, the Central Government has released Rs 19 036.43 crore to 28 States from the State Disaster Risk Management Fund (SDRMF) and Rs 4,409.71 crore to 11 States from NDRMF.

Ministry of Tribal Affairs bags Award of Appreciation in the 18th CSI SIG E-Governance Awards 2020

  • The Ministry of Tribal Affairs bags the prestigious Award of Appreciation in the Project Category-Central Government Entity – in the 18th CSI SIG eGov Awards 2020.
  • The award presented for their ‘Performance Dashboard Empowering Tribals Transforming India through various ICT initiatives”.
  • The award was received by the Joint secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Dr. Navaljit Kapoor from the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.

 

SERB announces Women Excellence Award 2021 on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science

  • Four young women fellows of National Science Academies awarded for excelling in science and engineering on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2021.
  • The SERB Women Excellence Award that conferred on them provides a grant of Rs. 15 lakhs for a period of three years to the awardees to pursue their research ideas.
  • The 4 women are Dr. Shobhna Kapoor, Assistant Professor at IIT Bombay, Dr. Antara Banerjee, Scientist B National Institute For Research In Reproductive Health, Mumbai, Dr. Sonu Gandhi Scientist D from National Institute Of Animal Biotechnology, Hyderabad, Dr. Ritu Gupta, Assistant Professor at Indian Institute Of Technology Jodhpur.
