Prime Minister lays foundation stone for Water Supply project in Manipur
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid foundation stone for the Manipur Water Supply Project under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
- The Manipur Water Supply Project is aimed to achieve the goals of Jal Jeevan Mission – “Har Ghar Jal” by 2024 benefitting the people of Manipur.
- Jal Jeevan Mission an initiative to provide Freshwater Household Tap connections (FHTCs) to the rural households of Manipur.
- The main aim of the mission is to provide safe and adequate drinking water to the rural households in India by 2024.

India’s First 700 MWe Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor at Kakrapar, Gujarat Attains Criticality
- The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) has announced that, Unit-3 of Kakrapar Atomic Power Project (KAPP-3), achieved its first criticality that is the initiation of controlled and sustained nuclear fission reaction.
- It is the India’s First 700 MWe (megawatt electric) and indigenously developed Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) in Surat, Gujarat.
- KAPP-3 is India’s 23rd nuclear power reactor that is completely designed and built by India.

Union Home Minister launches Tree Plantation Campaign-2020 of the Coal Ministry
- Union Minister of Home Affairs has launched the Tree Plantation Campaign “Vriksharopan Abhiyan” of the Ministry of Coal in the presence of Union Minister of Coal.
- On the occasion, the Union Home Minister inaugurated and laid the Foundation stone of six Eco parks/ Tourism sites.
- The Ministry of Coal at more than 130 locations spread in 38 Districts of 10 States organized the Tree Plantation Campaign.

- Pharma Company Cipla is all set to launch the anti-viral drug Favipiravir for the treatment of COVID-19 patient.
- CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology developed a cost effective process and transferred the technology to the Cipla Company.
- Anti-viral drug Favipiravir has shown relliable results in clinical trials for treatment of Covid-19 patients.

China Launches Tianwen-1: China’s First Rover Mission to Mars
- China has launched its first Rover Mission, Tianwen-1 to Mars in a Long March 5 Rocket from the Wenchang Satellite Launch Centre in Hainan Island.
- This is a first fully domestic mars mission of the country.
- The objective of Tianwen-1 is to orbit, land, release the rover, and coordinate observations with an orbiter.

National Broadcasting Day observed on 23rd July
- The National Broadcasting Day was observed in India on 23rd July every year.
- This is to celebrate the first ever radio broadcast aired in India on 23rd July 1927 from the Bombay Station of a private company, the Indian Broadcasting Company.
- The Indian State Broadcasting Service (ISBS) became the All India Radio (AIR) on 8th June 1936.
- All India Radio adopted the name “AKASHVANI” for the National Broadcast in 1956.
- AIR serves as a medium of mass communication to inform, educate and entertain.
