National Conference on Coastal Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience,2020.
- The first ever National Conference on Coastal Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience (CDRR & R), 2020 was head over by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Mr. Nityanand Rai, at New Delhi on 25th February.
- The one-day conference was organised by the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM).
- The conference mainly focussed on understanding the developing risks in the Coastal Disaster, to create awareness and enhancing the resilience amongst the affected stakeholders.
Tribal Affairs Minister inaugurates all India Tribal Workers Meet.
- The Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Mr. Arjun Munda instituted the “all India tribal workers meet” in New Delhi.
- The event was organised by Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh (BAJSS).
- BAJSS is a voluntary organisation across the country serving among the untouchables and the poor people of tribal areas. The organisation was constituted on 24th October, 1948 by Pujya Thakkar Bapa, a dedicated Social worker.
India and United States signs three defence deals and agreements.
- During the state visit of US President Donald J. Trump, three defence deals along with three agreements were signed between US and India including health and oil sectors.
The three agreements are as follows:
- Two Memorandum of Understanding(MoUs) were signed between them, one is on mental health signed between the two health departments.
- The other one is on the safety of medical products was signed between the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization with the US Food and Drug Administration.
- A Letter of Cooperation was also signed between Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Exxon Mobil India LNG Limited from India and Chart Industries Inc, US.
- India and US also agreed for the purchase of more than 3-billion-dollar worth advanced American military equipment for new Delhi.
BIMSTEC: 3,000-kilometre-long power grid from Myanmar-Thailand to India.
- Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation(BIMSTEC) is an international organisation of seven nations of South Asia and South East Asia.
- The energy conference of BIMSTEC was held at Dhaka, Bangladesh, where the Energy Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Dr Tawfiq-E-Elahi Chowdhury reported that the organisation is engaged in connecting the 3000km long power grid from Myanmar-Thailand to India.
- This move is mainly to make certain the better capacity utilization and also benefitting the consumers with low price and undisturbed power supply.
- BIMSTEC member countries - Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan.
Union Minister of Coal and Mines established Crusher and Conveyor System at NALCO.
- The Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Mr. Pralhad Joshi established a new crusher and conveyor system at NALCO’s Mining & Refinery section in Damanjodi, Odisha.
- NALCO- National Aluminium Company Limited, Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE)under the Union Ministry of Mines, with Headquarters at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
- NALCO is one of the largest integrated Bauxite-Alumina-Aluminium- Power Complex in Asia.
Joint Ministerial Commission held between India and Australia at New Delhi.
- The 16th session of the India and Australia Joint Ministerial Commission was held at New Delhi on 24th February 2020.
- The session jointly led by the Union Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry and Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Government of Australia.
- Both the countries agreed to strengthen the bilateral trade and the negotiations on the bilateral Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).

- Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment: Senator Simon Birmingham.
ISRO all set to launch GISAT-1 on March 5th.
- Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is to launch the country’s first ever earth imaging satellite in a Geostationary orbit named ‘GISAT-1’.
- The satellite will be launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota by the evening of march 5th.

K.V. Jeyasri receives Sahitya Akademi award for Translation
- K.V. Jeysri, a tamil teacher from Tiruvannamalai won the sahitya academi award for the year 2019.
- She was recognised for her work in translating a Malayalam novel named “Nilam Poothu Malarnna Naal” into tamil as “Nilam Poothu Malarndha Naal”.
LIVA Miss Diva Universe 2020 competition.
- Adline Castelino, from Mangalore has won the LIVA Miss Diva Universe competition for the year 2020 and she will represent India in the Miss Universe 2020 competition.
- Aavriti Choudhary from Jabalpur won the title of Miss Diva Supranational for the year 2020.

- The former Egyptian President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak, who ruled the country with iron fist for 30 years has passed away.

ADB lists masala bonds on India INX.
- The Asian Development Bank(ADB) has recorded its 10 years’ masala bonds of worth ₹850 cr on India INX.
- The listing has been done to enhance local currency lending and to strengthen investment in india.
- India INX is the country's first international exchange, located at International Financial Services Centre, GIFT City in Gujarat.
Rajesh Kumar has become the TransUnion CIBIL, New CEO.
- TransUnion CIBIL has appointed Mr. Rajesh Kumar as its new Director and CEO, by which he replaces Mr. Satish Pillai, who was recently appointed as the President of TransUnion Asia Region.
- Rajesh Kumar was the Group head for Retail Credit and Risk at HDFC bank before joining Transunion CIBIL.

- The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned the Oman player Yousuf Abdulrahim Al Balushi for 7 years from all forms of cricket for trying match fixing.
- All the charges are in connection with the ICC men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers 2019.
