Swachhta pakhwada observed by MNRE 1-15 June
  • Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and institutions under it observed Swachhta Pakhwada (cleanliness fortnight) from 1st June to 15th June 2019. During this period, MNRE undertook various activities such as Shramdan (cleanliness drive) by staff, lectures and seminars.
The Rahimatpur Police station in Satara tops SMART survey.
  • The Rahimatpur Police station in Satara district in Maharastra has emerged as the State topper in a survey based on the 'SMART' policing concept.
  • SMART-The survey was executed by the Quality council of India.
Meeting of Expert Working Group of Paris pact Initiative
  • The Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance is hosting a meeting of Expert Working Group on Paris pact Initiative in New Delhi. The Meeting focuses on Illicit Financial flows deriving from the trafficking of opiates originating in Afghanistan.
  • The Meeting is being organized with the support of United Nations Office on Drugs and crimes. The Meeting will be attended by the representative of the Member countries of Paris pact, Regional Representative of UNODC and Senior Officers of the Indian agencies like DRI, ED and NCB.
High Sugar, salt content: FSSAI sticks to its stance on labelling norms
  • The Food safety and Standards Authority of India(FSSAI) has decided to stick to its proposal of making it mandatory for food products that have high fat, sugar or salt content to display a red label on the packaging. In its draft Labelling regulations, released after two years of consultations with the packaged food industry.
Broadband connection for all Panchayats by March next year
  • All panchayats will be provided high-speed broadband connections under the BharatNet project by March 2020,
  • The Phase-II of the project is under implementation and a total of two lakh GPs (gram panchayats) are targeted to be completed by March 2020.

SEBI tightens norms for Mutual fund
  • Lays down new exposure to housing finance companies
  • Mutuals funds are banned from entering into standstill agreements with promoters
  • Share-pledging disclosures made to related parties by companies towards brand usage will require shareholder approval if the transaction exceeds 5% of annual consolidated turnover of listed entity
  • Tech companies with differential voting rights (DVR) can launch IPO of only ordinary shares.
Flipkart plans e-drive for its last mile delivery
  • E-commerce player Flipkart planned to introduce electric vehicles for its last mile deliveries.
  • Flipkart aims to replace nearly 40 percent of its existing last mile fleet of delivery vans with EVs by March 2020, starting with nearly 160 electric van deployed across cities by this year end.

Oxford honour for Poonawalla
  • Cyrus Poonawalla, founder and Chairman of the Serum Institute of India, received an honorary degree from the university Oxford for his work in the field of life saving vaccines and philanthropy.
  • Mr. Poonawalla was awarded his degree at the world famous university's annual Encaenia academic ceremony alongside Pakistani Singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan as part of a Total 2019 cohort of eight ceremony.
