  • The 2nd edition of Bongosagar, the bilateral naval exercise between India and Bangladesh, was held on 04.10.2020

  • The international day of International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons is observed on 26th September every year.

  • “India committed to step by step process in the disarmament of nuclear weapons by non-discriminatory process”, said by Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Foreign Secretary.

MISCELLANEOUS:

New “BreathPrint” for detecting ulcer-causing gastric pathogen

  • Scientists have found a method for early diagnosis of bacteria that causes peptic ulcer, with the help of a biomarker called ‘BreathPrint’ found in the breath.
  • Dr Manik Pradhan and his research team at S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata, an autonomous institute of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, has recently spotted the new biomarker for diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori in semi-heavy water (HDO) in human exhaled breath.
  • This method can be used to replace the traditional and painful methods of endoscopy and biopsy tests for the diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori, a common infection which may turn serious if it is not treated early.
