Ministry of Tribal Affairs Setting up Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museums to recognise contributions of tribal people in freedom struggle
- The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) has announced that the nine Tribal Freedom Fighters Museums that are under development to recognise the contribution of the tribal freedom fighters will be completed by the end of 2020.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made the announcement regarding the museums on 15th August 2016 to be established by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
- These museums are to make the future generation in understanding the contribution of the tribal freedom fighters.
- The nine museums are being developed in - Gujarat (Rajpipla), Jharkhand(Ranchi), Andhra Pradesh(Lambasingi), Chhattisgarh(Raipur), Kerala (Kozhikode), Madhya Pradesh (Chhindwara), Telangana (Hyderabad), Manipur (Senapati) and Mizoram (Kelsi).

HALs Two Light Combat Helicopters Deployed for Operations at Ladakh
- Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) manufactured 2 Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) have been deployed for operations at high altitude in Ladakh to support Indian Air Force (IAF) missions.
- LCH is capable of hitting any type of target by day or night with an ability to carry adequate weapon load at high altitudes under varied conditions.
- The twin engine LCH is the lightest attack helicopter in the world designed and developed by HAL to meet the specific and unique requirements of Indian Armed Forces under the “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”.

Reliance Foundation collaborated with USAID to Launch the W-GDP Women Connect Challenge across India
- US Agency for International Development (USAID) and Reliance Foundation, arm of Reliance Industries Ltd, have joined hands to connect the gender digital divide in India.
- To achieve this objective they together will launch the W-GDP Women Connect Challenge (WCC) across India in 2020.
- The collaboration comes under the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity (W-GDP) Initiative established by the White House.
- W-GDP Challenge supports the private sector-led approaches that close the gender digital divide, expand business opportunities and provide way for women empowerment.

India’s 1st Private Aerospace Company to Test Fire 1st of its Kind Upper Stage Rocket Engine Named “Raman”
- India’s first private aerospace start-up, Skyroot Aerospace has successfully tested an upper stage rocket engine named “Raman”.
- This rocket engine is the first 100= printed bi-propellant liquid rocket engine injector of India named after the Nobel laureate Sir CV Raman.
- Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, former ISRO scientists founded the start-up.
- The company completed multiple test fires to qualify their solid propellant formulation.
- The first launch Vehicle “Vikram-I” which hosts an Orbit Adjustment Module (OAM), which enables the insertion of multiple satellites into space, is targeted to launch in December 2021.

Goa signs MoU with NSDC for setting up World-Class Skill Development Institute
- Goa’s Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (DSDE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for setting up a World-Class Skill Development Institute to provide Advanced Skills Training under “Skill India Mission”.
- The institute is proposed to set up at the heritage building of Old Asilo Hospital, Mapusa, and North Goa.
- The institute will provide Advanced Skills training in highly specialized areas across sectors like healthcare, tourism and hospitality and other emerging business domains to meet industry demands.
- The Training for the Marginalized People will be given under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).

Delhi Gov Signed MoU with IIT-Bombay and Tata Projects Limited for Smog Tower
- The Delhi government has signed MoU with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Bombay and Tata Projects Limited to construct a high smog tower of about 20-meter in Connaught Place, New Delhi.
- For this project, IIT-Bombay will provide the technical support whereas NBCC will be the management consultant.

Bangladesh to get largest ever 3.1 billion dollar as loan package from Japan
- Japan has signed its largest ever loan package worth dollar 3.1 billion for Bangladesh.
- The loan will be provided under Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) for seven projects of Bangladesh under concessional terms.
- The loan will cover the construction of Jamuna railway bridge in parallel to the existing Bangabandhu Bridge, expansion of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Projects and Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway improvement project among the seven projects.
- Japan has been the single largest bilateral donor for Bangladesh since 2012.

Indian-origin senator Kamala Harris named US Vice Presidential candidate for Democratic party
- In the United States, Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden has named Indian-origin senator Kamala Harris as his Vice-Presidential running mate.
- Kamala Harris is currently the US Senator from California.
- If elected, Kamala Harris would be the first ever woman to be the Vice President of the United States and the first ever Indian-American and African Vice President of the country.

International Youth Day 2020 – August 12
- The United Nations International Youth Day (IYD) is celebrated on 12th August every year since 2000.
- The day is recognised to raise awareness on the legal and cultural problems related to the youths all over the world and to celebrate their actions and initiatives in the society.
- IYD 2020 is convened by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) in partnership with the Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development (IANYD) Youth Caucus and Create2030.
- The theme for IYD 2020 is – “Youth Engagement for Global Action”.
