Unlawful Religious Conversion Prohibition Ordinance, 2020 passed
- Recently, the government of UP has passed the Unlawful Religious Conversion Prohibition Ordinance, 2020.
- This law prohibits the conversion of religion for the sole purpose of marriage and makes such act a non-bailable offence.
- This law mandates to notify the conversion of religion with the district magistrate before two months.

- Article 21 – Right to Personal life and Liberty
- Article 25 - Freedom of conscience and free profession, practice and propagation of religion.
India Climate Change Knowledge Portal launched
- Union Minister Prakash Javadekar launched the India Climate Change Knowledge Portal.
- This portal will act as a single point Information resource that provides information on the different climate initiatives taken by various Line Ministries enabling users to access d status on these initiatives.
- The eight major components included in the knowledge portal are:
- India’s Climate Profile
- National Policy Framework
- India’s NDC goals
- Adaptation Actions
- Mitigation Actions
- Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation
- International Climate Negotiations
- Reports & Publications
India’s 3rd IEEE Milestone status for GMRT
- The Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), Pune, has been given the prestigious Milestone status by the US based Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
- The IEEE Milestones programme honours significant technical achievements which have global or regional impact.
- IEEE has so far recognised 212 milestones for their scientific and engineering contributions.
- This is only the third such IEEE ‘Milestone’ recognition for an Indian contribution. The previous two Indian IEEE Milestones were for:
- The pioneering work done by Sir J.C. Bose to demonstrate the generation and reception of radio waves in 1895 (recognised in 2012)
- The Nobel Prize-winning (in 1930) ‘scattering of light’ phenomenon observed by Sir C.V. Raman in 1928.

4th Trilateral NSA level Meet
- The fourth National Security Advisor level meeting Trilateral Maritime Security Cooperation was held between India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
- The countries have assured the cooperation in the matters of Maritime Domain Awareness, Humanitarian Assistance, Disaster Relief, Joint Exercises and Maritime pollution.
- The meeting was attended by India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Maldivian Defence Minister Mariya Didi, and Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne.

Doubling of FDI Inflows in the July-Sept quarter
- The total FDI inflows has doubled to $28 billion in the last quarter compared to the $14 billion in previous year.
- The highest inflow is from Singapore with $8.3 bn in April-Sept followed by US with $7.12bn.

130th death anniversary of Jyotiba Phule
- Mahatma Jyotirao Govindrao Phule (11 April 1827 – 28 November 1890) was an Indian social activist, thinker, anti-caste social reformer and writer from Maharashtra.
- He was a great social reformer who fought for the rights of women and the downtrodden.
