India hosts 5th Joint Working Group on Coal between India and Indonesia

  • India successfully hosted 5th Joint Working Group (JWG) on Coal between India and Indonesia through video conferencing.
  • The JWG was held due to travel restrictions because of Covid-19 pandemic.
  • The JWG was co-chaired from the Indian side by Vinod Kumar Tiwari, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Government of India and by Jonson Pakpahan, Director for Mineral and Coal, Non Tax State Revenue of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Republic of Indonesia, from the Indonesian side.

 

India and Italy sign 15 agreements in various sectors

  • A virtual bilateral summit was held between India and Italy via video conferencing, in which they both agreed and signed 15 agreements between them in various sectors.
  • The meeting co-chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Italian counterpart Giuseppe Conte.
  • The agreements signed were on cooperation in a diverse range of areas including energy, green energy, shipbuilding and media sector.
  • Italy will assume the Presidency of G-20 in December 2021 followed by India in 2022.

HIL signs MOU with Department of Chemicals & Petro Chemicals to achieve revenue target of 451 Crore rupees

  • HIL (India) Limited, a PSU under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers,   has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals recently to achieve the revenue target of Rs 451 crore in Fy 2020-21.
  • The MoU was signed by the HIL (India) Limited’s Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) SP Mohanty and the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals' Secretary Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi.
  • HIL ltd has manufactured 530.10 MT of Malathion Technical in the first two quarters as compared to 375.5 MT in the corresponding period last year (CPLY), which is the highest ever production since its inception.

 

Coastal security exercise ‘Sagar Kavach’ begins in Odisha

  • A two-day joint coastal security exercise, “Sagar Kavach” was launched at Paradip Coast yesterday.
  • The exercise is being carried out by a joint effort of the state of Odisha and West Bengal governments.
  • The 'Sagar Kavach' security exercise is being conducted every year by different coastal states following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks to foil infiltration into the country by sea.

 

India conducts major tri-Service exercise in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

  • The tri-Service combat exercise called “Bull Strike” was conducted by the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC).
  • The exercise "Bull Strike" involved all  the three services components of Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) including elements of Indian Army's Parachute Brigade, MARCOS and Special Forces.
  • The exercise focussed on enhancing inter-operability and synergy among the three services, to maximise combat potential.

Bangladesh, US launch joint naval exercise ‘CARAT Bangladesh 2020’

  • The Bangladesh and US Navies launched the ‘Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Bangladesh-2020’ on November 5th 2020.
  • This move is with a view to expand relationships and broaden maritime awareness between the two countries.
  • The CARAT exercises involve people-to-people interactions and a variety of professional exchanges, which took place in the Bay of Bengal with ships from both countries.
