Economic Times Global Business Summit 2020.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to address the inaugural session of the Economic Times Global Business Summit on 6th March 2020.

Under Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Signs MoU with Amazon.

  • Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) under Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs signed MoU with Amazon.
  • The MoU has been signed for e-marketing of products made by Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the country in urban areas.

Secretary, Water Resources inaugurates workshop on “Increasing Water Use Efficiency in Industries”.

  • The Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation Government of India, U.P. Singh has called upon the Industry to adopt the Corporate Water Responsibility (CWR) as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) provisions.
  • The workshop on “Increasing Water Use Efficiency in Industries” organized by the National Water Mission (NWM) as a part of the “Har Kaam Deshke Naam” initiative.

National level training workshop on COVID-19 organised by the Health Ministry.

  • Health Ministry is organizing a national level training workshop for all the states and hospitals from other Ministries on COVID-19 management.
  • The workshop to be organized in New Delhi, and will provide training on COVID-19.

Govt sanctions projects worth over ₹301 cr under food processing sector.

  • In a meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee held in New Delhi the Union minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal has sanctioned 10 projects worth over ₹301 crore rupees in food processing sector.
  • These projects will provide employment to ten thousand people and will benefit a large mass of farmers.
  • The projects were sanctioned under the Agro Processing Cluster Scheme of Kisan Sampada Yojana.

 

NSTFDC implements Adivasi Mahila Sashaktikaran Yojana.

  • National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) is implementing Adivasi Mahila Sashaktikaran Yojana for tribal women.
  • Government has taken a series of initiatives for empowerment of women in the run up to the International Women's Day to be celebrated on March 8th 2020.
  • Under the scheme Adivasi Mahila Sashaktikaran Yojana, Scheduled Tribes women can undertake any income generation activity.

 

Kolkata celebrates Poetry Festival.

  • Jogen Chowdhury, famous Painter inaugurated the four-day long Poetry festival at Rabindra Sandan Complex in the city.
  • The festival is being organized by the West Bengal Government where more than 600 poets from different parts of the state will recite their poems at seven venues in Kolkata.

Indira Gandhi and Amrit Kaur names in the ‘TIME 100 Women of the Year’.

  • TIME Magazine has named India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and freedom fighter Amrit Kaur among 100 greatest women of the year. TIME has created 100 coves for 100 women from 1920 to 2020.
  • Amrit Kaur as the women of the year for 1947 and Indira Gandhi for 1976.
  • TIME mentioned that Indira Gandhi became India’s great authoritarian in 1976.
  • In 1930, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur became Mahatma Gandhi’s secretary while tackling social issues and raising voice for women’s education.

 

Luxembourg has become the world's first country to offer complete and free public transport.

  • All public transport in Luxembourg was made free from march 1st 2020, which makes the country to be the first one in providing free public transport across the world.
  • This move mainly aimed at encouraging Luxembourg's inhabitants to use it and curb the continued traffic problems the country is experiencing.

Sanjay Kumar Panda- next ambassador to turkey.

  • Sanjay Kumar Panda has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Turkey by the Ministry of External Affairs.
  • He was the Senior Odia IFS officer of 1991-batch, currently serving as Consul General of India in San Francisco.

 

Bimal Julka Appointed Chief Information Commissioner.

  • Information Commissioner Bimal Julka was appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner.
  • President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office to Mr Bimal Julka as the CIC in the Central Information Commission at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Former UN Chief Javier Perez de Cuellar passes away.

  • Former UN Chief Javier Perez de Cuellar, who served as United Nations Secretary General from 1981 to 1991 has passed away.
  • Perez de Cuellar notably led the United Nations during the Iran-Iraq war and the civil war in El Salvador.

  • 4th edition of Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) 2019 was held at New Delhi, where World champion shuttler PV Sindhu was named as the Sportsperson of the Year.
  • Former India football captain Bhaichung Bhutia was given the Lifetime Achievement award.
  • Olympic gold medallist Balbir Singh Sr has won the Icon of the Century award.
  • National badminton coach Pulella Gopichand won the Mentor of the Year award.

Mumbai set to host IOC session in 2023.

  • International Olympic Committee's(IOC) session is to be hosted by Mumbai in 2023 as recommended by the IOC Executive Board.
  • This will be the second-ever IOC session to be held in India after a long gap since 1983 when India hosted an IOC session for the first time in New Delhi.
