AGRI INDIA HACKATHON

  • The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has started organising KRITAGYA- a National level hackathon in the month of August, 2020 to promote innovation in agriculture and allied sectors in the country.
  • Purpose of organising Agri-Hackathon are to give opportunity to the students along with faculties, innovators for showcasing their innovative approaches & technologies in agriculture and allied sectors.
  • Evaluation criteria comprises of uniqueness of the idea, its suitability, value proposition and plan to scale-up technology.
  • Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has put in place an Institutional mechanism through Research Institutes, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and Agriculture Universities (AUs) to address the problems being faced by the farming sector.

 

Aero India 2021

  • Aero India 2021 three-day mega event to showcase the prowess of Aviation Industry began from 04/02/2021 at Bengaluru.
  • Aero India-2021 will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and will commence with a flying display at Yelahanka Air Force Station.
  • This is the 25th year of Aero India and the 13th edition of the event.

 

Establishment of Centre for Wetland Conservation and Management

  • As a part of India’s commitment towards the environment, on World Wetlands Day – 2nd February, the Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Sh. Babul Supriyo announced the establishment of Centre for Wetland Conservation and Management (CWCM).
  • The CWCM will be established under the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), Chennai.
  • WCM would serve as a knowledge hub and enable exchange between State/ UT Wetland Authorities, wetland users, managers, researchers, policy-makers and practitioners
  • India has nearly 4.6% of its land as wetlands, covering an area of 15.26 million hectares and has 42 sites designated as Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Sites), with a surface area of 1.08 million hectares.
  • The year 2021 also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971 in Ramsar, Iran, celebrated annually as World Wetlands Day.
  • The theme of World Wetlands Day 20201 is “Wetlands and Water”.

One District One Product Scheme

  • One District One Product (ODOP) is an initiative which is seen as a transformational step forward towards realizing the true potential of a district, fuel economic growth and generate employment and rural entrepreneurship, taking us to the goal of AtmaNirbhar Bharat.
  • The objective is to convert each District of the country into an Export Hub by identifying products with export potential in the District
  • Under the initial phase of the ODOP programme, 106 Products have been identified from 103 districts across 27 States.
  • For example, Blue Pottery (Jaipur) and Markhana Marbels (Nagaur) are among the identified 106 Products from Rajasthan.

 

MAKE IN INDIA 2.0

  • Make in India initiative was launched on September 25, 2014 with the objective of facilitating investment, fostering innovation, building best in class manufacturing infrastructure, making it easy to do business and enhancing skill development.
  • Presently focuses on 27 sectors under Make in India 2.0. Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade is coordinating action plans for manufacturing sectors, while Department of Commerce is coordinating service sectors.

ANNIVERSARY

PM inaugurates ‘Chauri Chaura’ Centenary Celebrations

  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated ‘Chauri Chaura’ Centenary Celebrations at Chauri Chaura, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh on 4th February, through video conference.
  • The day marks 100 years of the ‘Chauri Chaura’ incident, a landmark event in the country’s fight for independence.
  • The Prime Minister also released a postal stamp dedicated to the Chauri Chaura centenary event.
