Youth Festival ‘Sonzal-2022’at University of Kashmir

  • Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Annual Youth Festival ‘Sonzal-2022’ at the University of Kashmir.
  • The 'Sonzal' annual festival is a great opportunity for young artistes to showcase their talent and provide them the necessary platform to realise the dream of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'.
  • Sonzal means rainbow, which is a symbol of hope, inspiration and good fortune.
  • The University of Kashmir has transformed into a center of excellence and has been promoting scientific research, new ideas and knowledge and adapting to rapid changes in fundamental aspects of the educational landscape across the globe.

Pre-Launch Celebration of International Year of Millets

  • A pre-launch celebration of the International Year of Millets was held on 24 November 2022 in New Delhi.
  • It was organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
  • Its main objective is to spread awareness about Indian Millets and associate with other countries for the successful global celebration of the International Year of Millets in 2023.
  • India is promoting natural farming and re-popularizing nutritious and traditional food grains like millets for sustainable food security.

Exercise Garud Shakti 2022

  • Garuda Shakti, the eighth edition of the series of bilateral exercises is being conducted at Sangga Buana Training Area, Karawang at Indonesia.
  • A contingent of Indian Special Forces soldiers is participating in Exercise Garuda Shakti, a bilateral joint training exercise with Indonesian Special Forces.
  • It aims to enhance understanding, cooperation and interoperability between the special forces of both the armies.
  • The scope of the joint exercise includes orientation, sharing of information on weapons, equipment, innovations, tactics, techniques and procedures to upgrade the skills of the Special Forces.

DGCA Grants Aerodrome License to Jaipur International Airport

  • Jaipur International Airport Limited has received the Aerodrome license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) following which the airport has embarked on an expansion drive.
  • The license was previously held by the Airport Authority of India (AAI), the government body which was earlier operating the airport.
  • The license has been granted to the airport operator to provide full access to the management and control operations of the airport by the concession agreement.
  • The airport management has conducted an extensive survey at Jaipur airport which revealed that present passenger traffic of 50 lakh per annum will reach 1 crore by 2025.

ICICI Bank Introduces Deposit-Linked Loans

  • ICICI Bank Limited has launched two new products namely Loan Against Deposits (LAD) and Dollar Bonds for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) customers at its branch in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), the Gujarat-based emerging global financial and IT services hub.
  • ICICI Bank is the first bank to offer these products in GIFT City.
  • The loan against deposits facility is similar to a loan in foreign currency against a deposit in India and includes non-resident external fixed deposits in
  • Up to 95% of the deposit value can be availed of using this loan and customers can borrow for flexible tenures at fixed or floating interest rates.

National U-13 Badminton Championship

  • Telangana's Nishanth Bhukya and Odisha’s Tanvi Patri emerged champions in the boys and girls singles respectively at the 34th Under-13 National Badminton Championships at the Uttar Pradesh Badminton Academy, Lucknow.
  • Fourth seeded Bhukya came from behind to beat Andhra Pradesh’s Akhil Reddy Boba 19-21, 21-12, 22-20 in 44 minutes.
  • Patri took just 22 minutes to defeat local challenger and 15th seeded Divyanshi Gautam 21-7, 21-10.

Sebastian Vettel Announced His Retirement

  • Sebastian Vettel, a German racing driver has announced his retirement from Formula One.
  • Vettel won four Formula One World Championships for Red Bull between 2010 and 2013 and he previously spent six seasons with Ferrari.
  • Vettel began his Formula One career in 2006 as a test driver for BMW Sauber, making one race appearance in 2007.

Economic Times Inspiring Leaders Award 2022

  • Museum maker AP. Shreethar was honoured with Economic Times Inspiring Leaders Award – 2022 in Delhi.

  • He is known to have conducted more than 72 shows and exhibitions around the world during his 35 years of travel.

  • AP Shreethar is credited as the creator of the world's first Live Art Museum - Chennai's Vintage Camera Museum, Singapore's Vintage Camera Museum (Asia's largest camera museum) and The House of Kalam - a special click art museum in the premises of the late Dr A P J Abdul Kalam at Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu.

  • As a recipient of the renowned Lenin Muzeum Award, AP Shreethar specialises in capturing the essence of his subjects with photo realistic renderings.

Dr. Kalam Seva Puraskar Award

  • Ravi Kumar Sagar, one of the youngest founders and CEO of RK'S INNO group was conferred with the most prestigious Dr Abdul Kalam Seva Puraskar award.
  • This award was presented to him for his continuous service to the society and he is one of the youngest entrepreneurs of India.
  • The Dr. Kalam Seva Puraskar is hosted every year by Vande Bharat Foundation and LeadIndia Foundation to mark the birth anniversary of late former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
  • The award is given to deserving candidates on Dr. Kalam's birth anniversary to recognize people who have done extraordinary work for the society.

'RH-200' Rohini Sounding Rocket

  • ISRO's versatile sounding rocket RH200 carried out its 200th consecutive successful launch from the coast of Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram.

  • The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) termed it a "historic moment".
  • The successful flight of RH200 took off from the Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS).
  • Indian sounding rockets are used as privileged instruments for the scientific community to conduct experiments on meteorology, astronomy and similar branches of space physics.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

  • International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women 2022 is observed every year on 25 November.
  • On this day, Mirabal sisters of the Dominican Republic were assassinated by dictator Rafael Trujillo.
  • In some cases, this violence ends in the woman’s death.
