Centre constitutes National Council for Transgender community
- A National Council was organised for the Transgender persons by the Central Government.
- The council is been formed in exercise of the powers conferred by section 16 of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 (40 of 2019).
- This is the India’s first 30-member National Council for Transgender Persons in advising the centre in monitoring and evaluating the impact of policies and schemes conferred for them in achieving equality in this society.
- The Social Justice and Empowerment Minister will be the ex-officio Chairperson and Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment will be ex-officio Vice-Chairperson.
- The other members of the Council includes representatives of various Ministries, five representatives from transgender community, representatives of NHRC and NCW, representatives of State Governments and UTs and NGO experts.
- A Member of National Council shall hold office for a term of three years from the date of his nomination excluding the ex-officio Chairman.

National Sugar Institute, Kanpur organised an Online Executive Development Programme
- National Sugar Institute, Kanpur, UP has organised a five day long online ‘Executive Development Programme’.
- The Secretary of Food & Public Distribution, Sudhanshu Pandey inaugurated the programme.
- The programme is being attended by around 100 senior executives from Indian & overseas sugar industry.
- The objective of the programme is to enrich the knowledge of working personnel to ensure an economically and environmentally sustainable sugar industry.

IAF has launched a Mobile Application called ‘MY IAF’
- Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria, Chief of the Air Staff launched a mobile application ‘MY IAF’ at Air Headquarters Vayu Bhawan as a part of Digital India initiative.
- Indian Air Force (IAF) in association with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has developed the App for providing timely information for those who desire to join in IAF.
- The app serves as a single digital platform interfacing the users with the details of selection procedure, training curriculum, etc. for both officers and pilots in the IAF.
Government of India and AIIB sign agreement for $500 million
- The Government of India, the Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) jointly signed a loan agreement of worth $500 million.
- The project called as Mumbai Urban Transport Project-III.
- The project aims to improve the network capacity, service quality and safety of the suburban railway system in Mumbai.
- The total estimated cost of the project is $997 million, of which $500 million will be financed by the AIIB, $310 million by the Government of Maharashtra and $187 million by Ministry of Railways.
- The Project is expected to increase network capacity in the region with the reduction in journey time and accidents of commuters.

Ministry of Tourism organises the 50th webinar titled “Cultural heritage of Hyderabad” under DekhoApnaDesh series
- Ministry of Tourism’s DekhoApnaDesh Webinar Series reached a landmark of 50th session with the webinar titled “Cultural heritage of Hyderabad” presented on 22nd August 2020.
- The Ministry of Tourism is organizing the DekhoApnaDesh webinars with an objective to create awareness about and promote various tourism destinations of India
- Heritage education Consultant, Author and Conservation Architect Ms MadhuVottery presented the webinar.
- The webinar displays the culture of Hyderabad, which is quite distinct from the rest of Telangana with its strong Islamic influences inherited from the period of the Nizam rule.

India and Uzbekistan Co-chaired the First National Coordination Committee Meeting
- Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and Foregin Economic Relations, Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov co-chaired the first National Coordination Committee Meeting over a virtual platform.
- The meeting mains focussed on Strengthen the strategic relations between India and Uzbekistan.
- During the meeting, the officials have discussed about Issues on bilateral interests like, Line of Credit (LoC) projects, bilateral trade and investments.
- The bilateral trade turnover of India and Uzbekistan is over 300 million USD.
- The major trade and investment by India in Uzbekistan is in the field of Pharmaceuticals.

China Successfully Launched New Optical Remote-Sensing Satellite “Gaofen-9 05”
- China has launched its fifth Gaofen-9 series satellite named “Gaofen-9 05” along with two smaller payloads viz. Tiantuo-5 and Duo Gongneng Shiyan Weixing.
- The satellite was launched through Long March-2D carrier rocket from its Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre (JSLC) in northwest China.
- This launch was the 343rd mission of the Long March rocket series and the 23rd for China in 2020.
- Gaofen-9 (05) is an optical remote sensing satellite developed by Aerospace Dongfanghong Satellite Co.Ltd.
- Tiantuo-5, a small satellite is developed by the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) as an experimental satellite carrying remote sensing and other payloads.
- The major upcoming Chinese mission in 2020, probably in November, is the Chang’e-5 lunar sample return.
