Army launches 'Mission Reach Out' in Jammu

  • The Army has launched "Mission Reach Out" in Jammu to ensure basic necessities and essential services are available in the region post the abrogation of the provisions of Article 370 and reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • A high level "Mission Reach Out" conference to review the prevalent situation in the region was held in the Nagrota Military Station, which was chaired by White Knight Corps Commander Lt Gen Paramjit Singh.
  • The Corps commander lauded the absolute synergy between the Army, civil administration and other security establishments in maintaining peace, harmony and a conducive environment.

EnKash launches India’s first corporate credit card for SMEs

  • EnKash, a card focused Fin-tech startup, today has launched the EnKash “Freedom Card”, India’s FIRST Corporate Credit Card for SMEs / MSMEs and Startups.
  • The card offers a short duration revolving credit limit for companies to fulfil all business payments including but not limited to supplier payments, travel & entertainment expenses, utility payments, digital and cloud payments and other business expenses.

Alejandro Giammattei wins Guatemala's presidential race

  • Guatemala City, Guatemala - Guatemalans have voted in Alejandro Giammattei of the Vamos party as the country's next president.
  • The 63-year-old conservative candidate and former surgeon won a runoff election with 58.26 percent of the votes after 98 percent of voting centres had been counted.
  • He defeated former First Lady Sandra Torres from the centrist National Unity of Hope party, who received about 40 percent of the votes.

Ghotu Ram Meena is India's new envoy to Republic of Congo

  • Ghotu Ram Meena has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Congo.
  • Currently, Meena is serving as a counsellor, Embassy of India in Kyiv, Ukraine Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Quit India movement freedom fighter Dayanidhi Nayak passes away at 95

  • Noted freedom fighter Dayanidhi Nayak, who struggled against the British Government during the Quit India movement, breathed his last at his native village, Panimora at the age of 95.
  • One of the 32 freedom fighters from Panimora, he joined the Quit India movement against the British government and was a devout follower of Mahatma Gandhi.

Former Additional Solicitor General Amarendra Sharan passes away

  • Senior advocate and former Additional Solicitor General Amarendra Sharan passed away after suffering heart attack.
  • Mr. Sharan was the Additional Solicitor General in the Supreme Court during the UPA-I regime from 2004 to 2009. He had also served as a special counsel for CBI in the coal block allocation scam cases before the apex court.
  • He was also appointed as an amicus curia by the apex court which was hearing a petition seeking fresh investigation in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.

Ivory Coast music star DJ Arafat dies in road crash

  • DJ Arafat, an Ivorian singer with a huge following in francophone Africa, has died after a road accident in Abidjan.
  • He issued 11 albums, mainly of "coupé-décalé" -- a dance music form combining rapid percussion, choppy rhythms with hip hop-style vocals.

Aishwarya Pissay becomes first Indian woman to win FIM Bajas World Cup

  • In a milestone moment for Indian motorsport, Aishwarya Pissay annexed the FIM World Cup in the Women’s category at the end of the final round of the championship, at Varpalota, Hungary. The 23-year old also finished second in the FIM Junior category.
  • In the Hungarian Baja, the final round, the Team Sherco TVS rider finished fourth and added 13 points to her tally.
  • At the end of the four rounds, Aishwarya finished with 65 points, ahead of Portugal's Rita Vieira (61 points), Sara Alvarez (56 pts), Rosa Romero (50 pts) and Margot Farre (13 pts).
