India Hikes Wheat Import Duty to 40% to support local farmers

• The government has raised import duty on wheat 40% from 30% in a bid to support local farmers. Indian flour millers imported 1.65 million tonnes of wheat in 2017-2018 fiscal year, down from 5.7 million tonnes the year before.

Former Indian Footballer Pungam Kannan Passed away

• Former India Footballer Pungam Kannan passes away at age 80 years. Kannan played 14 matches for India & was the former Mohun Began & East Bengal forward. He won Santosh Trophy for Bengal Twice in a row (1971-73).
