• The Impact of Climate change Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) have joined hands to map, validate and protect smaller wetlands in coastal regions.

Bank Tech institute sets ups 5G lab for financial sector

• The institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), an arm of the Reserve Bank of India launched a 5G use Cases lab for the banking and financial sector.

• The use of 5G will change a range of Technologies and applications, including point-of-sale (POS) machines in the banking sector, which now use 2G.

Pay U acquires US digital payments company Wibmo for $70 million

• Pay U an online payment service provider and Naspers’ fintech arm announced the acquisition of Wibmo, a California-based industry leader in digital payment technologies, for $70 million.

Industrial growth declines to 20 month low, inflation up

• Industrial growth in February 0 0.1%, driven by an across the board slow down, especially key sectors like manufacturing, capital goods and infrastructure.

• Growth in the Index industrial production (IIP) slowed in February from 1.44% in January.

Gargi kaul Appointed Secretary of Defence Finance

• The centre appointed Gargi Kaul as Secretary, Defence Finance. She is a 1984- batch officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS). Kaul was earlier Financial Advisor, Defence Services in the Defence ministry.

• Sanjay Mitra is the present Defence Secretary.

Modi to get Russia’s highest Civilian Award

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been honored with Russia’s highest state decoration, the Order of St Andrew the Apostle, for his role in promoting deeper co-operation between India and Russia.
