6^TH Edition of National Conference on Economics of Competition Law organised by CCI

• The Competition Commission of India (CCI) organised the Sixth National Conference on Economics of Competition Law through virtual mode on 5^th March, 2021.
• The key address was delivered by the chairman of 15^th Finance Commission, N.K. Singh.
• The Chairperson of CCI mentioned the State Resource Person Scheme initiated by the Commission to train State and PSU procurement officials and equip them with competitive tender design tools and competition assessment of bids and tender outcomes.
• Chairperson announced the Journal on Competition Law and Policy to stimulate research and scholarship on competition law and policy.

DRDO conducts successful flight test of Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet

• Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully carried out a flight demonstration based on Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology from Integrated Test Range Chandipur off the coast of Odisha on March 05, 2021.
• The new technology can be used to develop the long-range air-to-air missiles.

Union Minister inaugurated New Delhi World Book Fair 2021

• Union Education Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ inaugurated the New Delhi World Book Fair 2021 – Virtual Edition on March 5.
• The theme of the Book Fair 2021 is “National Education Policy 2020”.
• The event is organised by National Book Trust.
• National Book Trust is an Indian publishing house, founded in 1957 as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education of the Government of India, headquartered in New Delhi.

• Bijayananda Patnaik, popularly known as Biju Patnaik, was the former chief minister of Odisha.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his tributes on his birth anniversary on 5^th March.
• He was born on 5^th March, 1916, in Cuttack.
• He was affiliated to the party Janata Dal.

Chairman of Muthoot Group

• The Chairman of Muthoot Group, MG George Muthoot, passed away at the age of 72 in New Delhi.
• He joined the family run business as the Managing Director in 1979.
• He took over the firm as a chairman in the year 1993.
