Smriti Irani inaugurates 8th India International Silk Fair
- Textiles Minister Smriti Irani, on 31st January 2021, inaugurated the 8th India International Silk Fair on Virtual Portal.
- The five days event is considered to be the India’s Biggest Silk Fair conducted in Indian Silk Export Promotion Council’s virtual platform.
- India is the only country in the world which produces all the four major varieties of silk - Mulberry, Eri, Tassar, and Muga.
- India is the second largest silk producer in the world.
Ecological & environment friendly InterModal Station in Nagpur
- Union Minister for Road Transport informed that the InterModal Station being constructed by the National Highways Authority of India will be ecological and Eco-Friendly.
- The cost of the project is ₹1200 crore will consist of roads, railways, metro, broad gauge metro and the Nag river waterway at one place in the Agni Railway Station.

India, World Bank sign 500-million-dollar Programme
- India, World Bank sign 500-million-dollar Programme to improve quality of school education in India.
- The loan agreement will aid the Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States Programme (STARS) to improve the quality and governance of school education.
- The programme covers six states namely Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Rajasthan.
Arun Hydro Electric Project
- Government of Nepal has allotted 679 MW Lower Arun Hydro Electric Project in Nepal to SJVN (Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited) through international competitive bidding.
- The Lower Arun Hydro Electric Project is located in Sankhuwasabha and Bhojpur Districts of Nepal.
- On completion 679 MW Lower Arun Hydro Electric Project will generate 3561 million units of electricity per annum.
- SJVN’s present installed capacity is 2016.51 MW and aims to be 5000 MW company by 2023, 12000 MW Company by 2030 and 25000 MW Company by 2040.
