NOAPS-single window clearing system of NMA launched

• The Minister of State for Culture & Tourism (Independent Charge) has launched an integrated NOC online Application Processing System for National Monuments Authority in New Delhi. This will help in online processing of applications requesting NOC for construction related work in prohibited and regulated area of ASI protected monuments.
• 6 new states will be part of this Integrated Online Application Portal with Urban Local Bodies Count. The details of States and Urban Local Bodies are as follows:
• Madhya Pradesh (378)
• Andhra Pradesh (110)
• Haryana (15)
• Punjab (10)
• Jharkhand (3)
• Telangana (1)
• Earlier this system was available only for five urban local bodies of Delhi and one urban local body of Mumbai.

Astra Rafael opens facility for defence communication system

• A state-of-the-art, over 20,000 sq ft facility of an Indo-Israel joint venture to design, develop and manufacture tactical communication systems for Indian armed forces was inaugurated.

Tamil Nadu government launches education TV channel 'Kalvi Tholaikkatchi'

• The Tamil Nadu government launched its exclusive education TV channel, aimed at benefiting students of classes I to XII.
• An initiative of the School Education Department, 'Kalvi Tholaikkatchi' (Education TV) was launched by Chief Minister K Palaniswami.
• The channel's content will include shows aimed at school children, besides those on jobs and related issues.
• This channel will be available on TN Arasu Cable TV network (channel no 200).

App launched to help Paralympians in Tokyo

• A mobile app was launched to help para-athletes to look up accessible places in Tokyo during their visit to the city for the 2020 Paralympics Games.
• The application “IndTokyo” which was launched by Arhan Bagati, Awareness and Impact Ambassador of Paralympic Committee of India, at the ‘Countdown to Tokyo 2020’.

Canara Bank launches OTP facility for ATM cash withdrawals over Rs 10,000

• Public sector lender Canara Bank has launched the first OTP facility for ATM withdrawals. In order to offer a more secured and safe system, Canara bank will activate OTP facility for cash withdrawals of Rs 10,000 or more in a day.

Wing Commander S Dhami becomes first female officer to become Flight Commander

• Indian Air Force's Wing Commander S Dhami has become the first female officer in the country to become the Flight Commander of a flying unit.
• Dhami took over as Flight Commander of a Chetak helicopter unit at Hindon airbase, recently.
• She is a permanent commission officer of the flying branch in the Air Force and has been flying choppers.
• Flight Commander is the second in command of the unit meaning that she is the number two in the unit after the commanding officer.
• Her elevation in the flying branch is moving a step closer towards women officers commanding units and formations in the service.

Pramod Agarwal to succeed Coal India chairman AK Jha

• Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has selected Pramod Agarwal, a 1991 batch IAS from Madhya Pradesh cadre as the next chairman of Coal India.
• He will take over after the present chairman A K Jha retires in January 2020. Agarwal is currently principal secretary for urban development and housing department in Madhya Pradesh.

Nauru's Parliament elects former human rights lawyer Lionel Aingimea as President

• Former human rights lawyer Lionel Aingimea has been elected Nauru's new President, two days after results showed Baron Waqa was not re-elected after six years in power.
• Mr Aingimea won a parliamentary vote for the presidency 12-6 over rival David Adeang.
• Mr Aingimea previously served as Nauru's secretary for justice under Finance Minister David Adeang.

Pavan Kapoor appointed as India's Ambassador to UAE

• Senior diplomat Pavan Kapoor has been appointed as India's Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of External Affairs announced.
• Kapoor, a 1990-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, will replace Navdeep Suri as India's Ambassador to the UAE.
• He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

• Shashi Shanker, the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) was honoured with Distinguished Fellowship of Institute of Directors (IOD), 2019 during 29th Institute of Directors (IOD) Annual Day Ceremony held in New Delhi.
• The prestigious Fellowship honour was conferred to Shanker in appreciation of his distinguished contribution to business and society.

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona to be honoured with UEFA President's Award

• Former Manchester United and France legend Eric Cantona is to receive the UEFA President's Award at the Champions League draw in Monaco.
• The 53-year-old, who won five English championships with Leeds and Manchester United in the 1990s and two French titles with Marseille, joins an illustrious list of previous recipients which includes Johann Cruyff, Alfredo Di Stefano and Eusebio.
• Cantona is the third Manchester United player to receive the award after Bobby Charlton in 2008 and David Beckham last year.

OBITUARY

Congress MLA from Mukerian Rajnish Kumar Babbi passes away

• Congress MLA from Mukerian Assembly seat in Punjab, Rajnish Kumar Babbi, passed away following a prolonged illness.
• Babbi was the son of former Speaker of Punjab Assembly and former state finance minister late Kewal Krishan.
• He was first elected to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in 2012 Assembly polls as an Independent from Mukerian seat after being denied ticket by the Congress.
• In the 2017 assembly elections, Babbi, who was fielded by the Congress, had defeated BJP nominee Arunesh Kumar from Mukerian Assembly segment.
