Assam re-launches SVAYEM scheme to provide self-employment for around 2 lakh youths

  • The Assam government re-launched a scheme to provide self-employment for around 2 lakh youths of the state called as Swami Vivekananda Assam Youth Empowerment (SVAYEM).
  • SVAYEM will provide 50 thousand rupees each as seed money to selected youths to start business ventures.
  • The Assam government is launching the redesigned SVAYEM with a budget of Rs. 1000 crore which will be spent in the next three months without any banking linkage.

Prahlad Singh Patel virtually attends 5th BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meet

  • Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel attended 5th BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting under the chairmanship of Russian Federation virtually.
  • The discussion was held on the impact of the epidemiological situation on the cultural sphere in the BRICS countries and review of the possible implementation of joint cultural online-projects within the member countries.
  • There were discussions on exploring possibilities of hosting a Digital Online Exhibition on a Shared theme towards end of 2021 under the auspices of BRICS Alliance of Museums.

Rajnath Singh addresses Combined Meeting of Defence Ministers of SCO, CSTO & CIS Member States in Moscow

  • Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the Combined Meeting of Defence Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Member States in Moscow.
  • He reaffirmed India’s commitment to evolution of a global security architecture, which will be open, transparent, inclusive, and rules-based and anchored in international laws.
  • He also thanked Russian Federation for organising the annual anti-terror exercise ‘Peace Mission’, which has contributed to building trust and sharing of experience among Defence Forces.

 

Nitin Gadkari addressed 60th Annual Convention of SIAM

  • Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkri has that automobile industry is one of the largest contributors to the manufacturing GDP of the country and is a sector that has the highest number of employment.
  • He addressed the 60th Annual Convention of SIAM through Video conferencing.
  • He assured to resolve the concerns of the industry in the interest of society and economy.

Mammoth collision of 'impossible' black holes detected for first time

  • The collision of Impossible Black Holes was detected and directly observed by the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Laboratory (LIGO) Scientific Collaboration and the Virgo Collaboration also known as LVC (LIGO Scientific Collaboration and VIRGO Collaboration) including the scientists from the Australian National University (ANU).
  • The short gravitational-wave signal, GW190521, captured by the LIGO and Virgo gravitational wave observatories in the United States and Europe on 21 May last year, came from two highly spinning, mammoth black holes weighing in at a massive 85 times and 66 times the mass of the Sun, respectively.
  • The larger of the two black holes is considered 'impossible.'
  • Astronomers predict that stars between 65 and 130 times the mass of the Sun undergo a process called pair-instability, resulting in the star being blown apart, leaving nothing behind.

 

India proposes voluntary G-20 principles on cross border movement

  • India has proposed for the development of voluntary 'G-20 Principles on Coordinated Cross-Border Movement of People' at the G-20 foreign ministers meeting in Riyadh.
  • The meet was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al- Saud where Indian side was represented by Union Minister for External Affairs Jaishankar.
  • The discussions were on strengthening international cooperation across borders in the wake of COVID-19 crisis.
  • The Ministers also exchanged national experiences and lessons learned from the cross-border management measures taken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
