Inter-Ministerial Committee to strengthen Capital Goods Sector

• The Government of India has set a 22-member Inter-Ministerial committee to strengthen the Capital Goods Sector in India.
• The main aim of the committee to do interventions in Capital Goods sector to help in contributing to achieve the national goal – 5 trillion-dollar economy and 1 trillion-dollar in manufacturing sector.

OTT platforms to get regulated by GOI

• The Government of India has issued the notification to regulate the contents of the Over-the-top (OTT) platforms and the streaming service providers under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
• Currently there is no regulatory norms for these platforms but are look after by the following:
  • Print Media – Press Council of India
  • TV News Channels – News Broadcasters Association
  • Advertising – Advertising Standards Council of India

2020 Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit held virtually

• The 20^th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit was held virtually on 10^th November 2020.
• The summit was chaired by the President of Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
• This is the third summit happened after India became full member in 2017.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that SCO 2020 is observed as “SCO Year of Culture”.

National Education Day

• The National Education Day is annually observed in India on November 11.
• The day marks the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad who was the first education minister of independent India.

Public Service Broadcasting Day

• The Public Service Broadcasting Day is observed every year on November 12^th.
• The day is celebrated to memorialize the only visit of Mahatma Gandhi to the studio of All India Radio to address the displaced people settled temporarily in Haryana in 1947 after partition.

Prince of Bahrain passes away

• Prince Khalifa bi Salman al-Khalifa, the Prime Minister of Bahrain, passed away at the age of 84.
• He has been the PM since the independence of the nation in 1971.
