Government sets up a committee on Kisan Rail.

  • Under the backing of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, a committee was formed to look upon the Modalities of “Kisan Rail”, which includes representatives from the Ministry of Railways.
  • In The Union Budget 2020-21 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed setting up of Kisan Rail to build a national cold supply chain for perishables including meat, milk and fish.
  • The Kisan Rail will comprise refrigerated coaches in Express and Freight trains. The Kisan rail will be set up by the Indian Railways through the Public Private Partnership(PPP).

University of Ranchi launches its own Community Radio Station

Ranchi University has launched its own Community Radio Station named “RADIO KHANCHI 90.4 FM Aap Sabka Radio” on the event of International Women’s Day celebrated on March 8th.

The Governor of Jharkhand and Chancellor of the University Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the radio station of Ranchi University.

‘Hola Mohalla’ a sikh festival was celebrated in Punjab

  • A Sikh festival called “Hola Mohalla” was celebrated in Sri Anandpur Sahib, Punjab on the following day of Holi.
  • The 3-day festival was celebrated in order to physically strengthen Sikh community by holding acrobatic military exercises and mock battles.

Poshan Pakhwada is being celebrated in Nagaland from March 8-22

  • In order to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of POSHAN Abhiyaan, Poshan Pakhwada is being celebrated in Nagaland from March 8th to 22nd.
  • The theme of Poshan Pakhwada 2020 is ‘Men for Nutrition - Increasing Male Engagement in POSHAN Abhiyaan to Improve Nutritional Indicators’.
  • Innovative programmes have also been introduced like the POSHAN Clubs at Village level, POSHAN Youth Club, Nutrition Volunteers, and Nutrition Monitors.
  • FACT: POSHAN ABHIYAAN initiative by government for the Holistic Nutritional Approach of the society. Initiated by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in 2018.

 

Mega Event of IDY-2020 is to be organised at Leh.

  • The 6th International Day of Yoga (IDY) national event will be held on 21st June 2020 at Leh, the capital of Ladakh.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the event and this decision was announced by the Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik.

 

TCIS signs MoU with The Gambia for MEA’s eVBAB Network Project

  • Telecommunications consultants India Limited (TCIS) under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has signed a MoU with Gambria.
  • It is signed for the participation in MEA’s (eVBAB) e-VidyaBharati and e-ArogyaBharati Network Project for tele-medicine and tele-education in Africa.

WHO declares Covid-19 as a pandemic

  • World Health Organization (WHO) has characterised the new coronavirus outbreak as a pandemic.
  • WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the deaths and cases is likely to increase in the coming days and the reiterated that the viruses spread and severity is alarming.
  • The World Health Organization, headquartered at Geneva Switzerland established in 1948 is a specialised agency of the United Nations that is concerned with world public health.

 

‘Joy Bangla’ to be national slogan of Bangladesh

  • The High Court of Bangladesh has ordered that ‘Joy Bangla’ will be the national slogan of Bangladesh.
  • ‘Joy Bangla’ was the main slogan during the liberation war of Bangladesh fought against Pakistan in 1971.

Mukesh Ambani loses Asia’s richest man title by $5.8 billion

  • Mukesh Ambani, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Reliance Industries had lost his Asia’s Richest man title by $5.8 billion.
  • According to the report of Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, Jack Ma the founder of Alibaba Groups limited has become the Asia’s Richest man with his net worth as $44.8 billion.
  • Mukesh Ambani’s wealth dropped by $5.8 bn to $41.8 billion as an impact of the COVID-19 epidemic which led to collapse in oil markets.
  • Mukesh Ambani continues to be India’s richest man and globally he is placed at number 19 and Jack Ma at 18th position.
  • FACT: The Bloomberg Billionaires Index is a daily ranking of the world's richest people releasing its report since 2012.

  • PV Sindhu has won the British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC) Indian Sportsman of the year award 2019.
  • Along with which Indian Former Sprinter PT Usha was awarded with Lifetime Achievement award.
