Bill Gates exit from the board of Microsoft

  • The co-founder and technology advisor of Microsoft, Mr Bill Gates now resigned his position from the board of director and to concentrate on Philanthropic efforts.
  • He also resigned from the board of Warren Buffets investment holding company Berkshire Hathaway.
  • FACT: Microsoft headquarters – Redmond, Washington USA

           Gates founded Microsoft in 1975 with the late Paul Allen. Their first product was Altair BASIC.

 

Bhawna Dehariya climbs Australia’s Mount Kosciuszko

  • Bhawna Dehariya, Indian Mountaineer has successfully ascended the highest mountain peak of Australia called Mount Kosciuszko almost 2,228-metres.
  • Earlier in 2019, she had scaled Mount Kilimanjaro - 5,895 meters the highest mountain peak of Tanzania.

PM Modi called on for emergency SAARC fund – COVID-19

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for the cooperation among the SAARC countries to combat the novel Coronavirus at the videoconferencing of SAARC nations.
  • And PM Modi also proposed the rising of emergency fund from the SAARC nations to tackle the COVID-19, where India making an initial contribution of about $10 million.

Phool Dei festival was celebrated in Uttarakhand

Mumbai central station renamed as Nana Shankarsheth Mumbai Central railway station

  • The Maharashtra Government has approved the proposal of renaming the Mumbai central station as Nana Shankarsheth Mumbai Central Railway Station.
  • The renaming has been made to honour the Nana Shankarsheth’s contribution in the formation of Indian Railway Association.
  • FACT: The first railway in India ran over 21 miles from Bombay to Thane.

Manipur announces welfare scheme for sportspersons and artists

  • For the welfare of the sportspersons and artists of Manipur the Chief Minister of the state has announced two biggest schemes.
  • The two schemes are namely “Chief Minister’s Akhannaba Sanaroising gi Tengbang (CMAST)” and “Chief Minister Artist Sing gi Tengbang (CMAT)”.
  • Under the schemes, employment will be provided to the sportspersons in the government sector and financial assistance and pensions will be extended to the Artists of various fields.

Government appoints MD&CEO and Non-Executive Chairman of Yes Bank

  • Government has appointed the former CFO & deputy Managing Director(MD) of SBI Prashant Kumar as MD & CEO of the reconstructed board of Yes Bank.
  • The former Managing Director of Punjab National Bank, Mr Sunil Mehta was also appointed as the Non- Executive Chairman of the Board.

 

 

Justice Bansi Lal Bhat appointed as the chairperson of NCLAT for 3 months

  • The Government of India has appointed Bansi Lal Bhat as the chairperson of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) for a span of 3 months.
  • Bansi Lal Bhat’s appointment has been made under the Rule 10(1) of the Appellate Tribunal and other Authorities (Qualifications, Experience, and other Conditions of Service of Members) Rules, 2020.
  • FACT: The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) is a tribunal which was formed by the Central Government of India under Section 410 of the Companies Act, 2013.

          It hears to the appeals related to Indian Companies.

Saurashtra beats Bengal bags maiden Ranji Trophy title

Saurashtra led by Jaydev Unadkat has won the Ranchi trophy title by defeating the Bengal team at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot, Gujarat.
