NATIONAL NEWS

  • Home Affairs Ministry extended “distributed area” tag under Armed Forces Special Powers
  • Act (AFSPA) for three districts of Arunachal Pradesh for another six months-Trap, Changlang and longing.
  • Kandhamal Haldi (a variety of turmeric indigenous to southern odisha) earned Geographical indication (GI) tag.
  • GST collections scaled to a record high of Rs 1.06 Lakh crores in March 2019, attributed to increase compliance to other turmeric varieties.
  • Telangana ranked at top in e-learning training, by reaching to 20,000 field staff during 2018- 19 as 2nd year in succession that state got the distribution under Department of Personal and Training (DoPT).

ECONOMICS AND FINANCIAL AWARENESS

  • RBI dilutes NPA divergence rules for banks to divergence when the additional provisioning for NPAs assessed by RBI exceeds 10% instead of the earlier  rule of 15% of the reported profit before provisions and contingencies for the reference period.
  •  BNP Paribas Cardif sold 5 crore shares in SBI life insurance for 2889 crore.
